Caps and limitsNo countywide numeric cap. Area specific limits: in the McCloud, Dunsmuir and Mount Shasta, and Weed and Lake Shastina areas a property must be at least two and one-half (2.5) acres in size, 10-6.6104(B). In the Dunsmuir and Mount Shasta and the Weed and Lake Shastina areas a permit may be issued only if less than five percent (5%) of the total available properties in those respective areas have a current VR Activity Permit, 10-6.6104(C), which is a saturation cap that can close those areas to new permits.L110-6.6104(C) · code text · checked 2026-09-13
Transfer when the home sellsThe permit terminates on sale. Section 10-6.6109 states that upon any transfer of ownership of the property where the permittee does not remain on title, the permit shall terminate automatically upon transfer. The one carve out inside the rule itself is that if the permittee remains on title after the transfer, for example a partial transfer or adding a family member or trust while the permittee stays on title, the permit does not terminate. No heir, spouse, trust or entity exception beyond that, and no transfer application window or grace period was found. A buyer must apply for a new VR Activity Permit, and in the Dunsmuir and Mount Shasta and Weed and Lake Shastina areas a new permit is available only while fewer than five percent of available properties in the area hold one and only on parcels of at least 2.5 acres.L110-6.6109 · code text · checked 2026-09-13
