Can you BnB it in Lakeport?
RestrictedLakeport treats short term rental of a residence to transient guests as a use requiring a Use Permit from the city, with operating standards that bar parties, weddings and dances and prohibit advertising signs on the property. A Lakeport use permit stays valid when the property changes hands as long as the use stays the same and is not discontinued for six or more consecutive months.

Transfer when the home sellsSec. 17.24.090: a use permit granted under Chapter 17.24 shall continue to be valid upon a change of ownership of the site, business, or structure provided the use remains the same and is not discontinued for six or more consecutive calendar months. So a Lakeport short term rental use permit survives a sale as long as the buyer keeps operating the same use and does not let it lapse for six months. The use permit must be exercised within one year of approval or it becomes null and void (Sec. 17.24.060), and it may be revoked if the use ceased or was suspended for six or more consecutive calendar months (Sec. 17.24.080(C)). The planning commission reviews the use permit as necessary for compliance and may revoke it for noncompliance (Sec. 17.24.110(E)). The buyer must still obtain his or her own business license and transient occupancy tax registration.L117.24.090 · code text · checked 2026-09-13
