Caps and limitsNo citywide numeric cap on permits. The limits are on nights and on eligibility. Hosted short term rentals are allowed for an unlimited number of nights per calendar year in blocks of thirty consecutive days or less. Un-hosted short term rentals are allowed for a maximum of ninety nights per calendar year in blocks of thirty consecutive days or less. A vacation rental, which the code defines as an un-hosted short term rental, may occur for a maximum of ninety days per calendar year and requires that the owner has been a resident of Inglewood for at least ten consecutive years, has owned the current primary residence for at least five consecutive years, has owned the vacation rental for at least 365 consecutive days, and that the vacation rental is within one thousand feet of the property line of the primary residence.L1Chapter 8 Article 11 · code text · checked 2026-09-13
Transfer when the home sellsA short term rental permit may not be assigned or transferred. It is valid for one year and is renewed by the permit holder filing a completed renewal application. No family, heir, spouse, trust, entity or LLC exception, no transfer application window and no grace period appears in Article 11. Because the permit also requires the host to own the unit and to have resided in it for the last 365 consecutive days before applying, a buyer cannot apply on the day of purchase and must first accumulate a year of residency. One sale related provision appears in the revocation rules: a permit may be denied, suspended or revoked where a permit for the property has been revoked in the previous twelve months, unless the property has been sold.L1Chapter 8 Article 11 · code text · checked 2026-09-13
